In partnership with HIMSS and Health 2.0, Healthbox helped organize the recent Top 20 Digital Health Startup Showcase at JP Morgan Healthcare Week 2019. With 250 investors and industry leaders in the audience, the event was an opportunity for early stage companies to showcase their exciting and impactful work.

Each of the companies that presented is tackling big and important problems within the healthcare industry. As a group, they spanned stage and focus area; seed stage companies pitched alongside those who had already raised a Series B and there was similarly broad representation of business models and target customers.

While each company is doing compelling work, the three below provide a good sense of the range of problems the participating 20 companies are solving:

  • Happify Health (New York, NY; $25.5m raised to date): Happify Health gives employers, health care payers, and others the evidence-based programs they need to help fight stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms. In November 2018, the company announced an expanded relationship with Cigna, in additional to previously-announced work with Humana and other Fortune 500 companies.
  • Orbita Health (Boston, MA; $7.5m raised to date): Orbita provides software to improve patient engagement in digital health through voice-first and conversational AI solutions. The company allows developers to build once and deploy their tools across a variety of modalities such as Alexa, Google, IVR, text, and others for use in consumer services, facility or call center operations, and remote patient monitoring.
  • KēlaHealth (San Francisco, CA; $820k raised to date): KēlaHealth is a software platform that combines predictive algorithms with high-impact interventions to reduce surgical complications. The company’s algorithms assess patient risk across 9 major complication categories for any procedure throughout the surgical journey and can then recommend targeted interventions based on each patient’s comprehensive risk profile.
