In the Fall of 2017, Orlando Health, a health system with more than 2,550 physicians, 23,000 employees, 25 clinics, and nine hospitals in Florida, including the highest rated hospital in central Florida, launched its Strategic Innovations Program with the primary goal of providing team members a framework and process to advance their innovative ideas. Orlando Health and the Strategic Innovations team enlisted Healthbox as a partner to help cultivate and foster a culture of innovation that would be the foundation moving forward.
As part of the collaboration, Orlando Health implemented Healthbox’s Foundry Program. This intensive learning program consists of a Bootcamp plus four Modules, providing intrapreneurs the opportunity to work through a rigorous curriculum to validate their innovative ideas. The program formally ends with a pitch where they can receive funding for piloting and commercialization. The program’s inaugural year received over 60 applications with ideas across the spectrum of strategic imperatives and solutions. In the end, 4 innovations were selected to participate.
The Orlando Health Foundry video highlights the experiences of the intrapreneurs who participated in the 2017 inaugural program. Read more about the Foundry and Orlando Health Strategic Innovations team here.
